E1/T1 LC ISA board
The E1/T1 LC ISA board is a powerful building block in a wide
array of Computer Telephony applications. The ISA Bus and the MVIP Bus provide
a standard interface to the rest of the system.
Main features
- 4 E1/T1 line interfaces
- MVIP interface
- Switch matrix
- ISA Interface
- D-phone Interface
- PLL clock synchronisation from internal or external source
- Quality assured by ISO9001 certification

E1/T1 PCM Framers (Conexant
Bt8370)
The E1/T1 LC card provides 4 E1/T1/J1 framers and Line Interface Unit for
Long and Short Haul Applications. It can handle attenuated signals up to
-43 dB. The short haul interface works according to ANSI T1.102-1993, ITU
G.703, I.430, I.431; the long haul interface according to ANSI T1.403-1995,
Bellcore TR-303.
The transmit pulse shapes are programmable for E1 and T1/J1, as
well as the Build-Out for CSU signals.
The physical interface offers low transmitter output impedance for
high transmit return loss, tri-state function of the analog transmit line
outputs. The transmit line monitor protects the device from damage.
Jitter specifications of ITU-T I.431, G.703, G.736 (E1), G.823 (E1)
and AT&T TR62411 (T1/J1) are met.
The supported frame formats are E1:FAS/MFAS/FAS+CAS/MFAS+CAS and
T1:FT/SF/ESF/SLC/T1DM, the maximum average reframe time is less then 50 ms,
current ANSI, ITU and Bellcore standards are supported for alarm end error
monitoring.
Extensive test and diagnostic functions include a full set digital
and analog loopbacks, PRBS test pattern generation, BER meter and forced
error insertion.
Each framer include two full-duplex HDLC controllers for handling
signalling links.
Line Interfaces
Software can select line terminations, 75 Ohm unbalanced and 120 Ohm balanced
for E1 or 100 Ohm unbalanced for T1.
The 4 T1/E1 are connected through J-45 connectors on the front of the card.
H.110 Controller &
Switch Matrix
The H.110 controller provides switching between the ECTF H.110 CTBus interfaces
and the local resources (16 E1/T1 channels), or internally between the local
resources. Each connection can be a 1-bit, 2-bit, 4-bit, or 8-bit. Up to
2048 connections are supported.
The ECTF CTBus uses the standard CTBus H.110 pins on J4.
The message mode function allows assigning a preset value to any output time-slot.
Broadcast switching optionally distributes one incoming time-slot to different
output time-slots. Conversely it is possible to generate one output time-slot
consisting of several input time-slots. The specified input time-slots are
logically AND or OR connected. The software has read access to the content
of any input time-slot.
Clock Control
Clock synchronisation is maintained by digital phase locked loop circuitry,
which provides timing and synchronisation signals.
The board may be configured as Master or Slave with respect to H.110 and
handles H.110 clock fallback rules.
The reference clock can be selected from any of the network interfaces, or
from a dedicated external 2 MHz sinusoidal reference connected to a. dedicated
microSiemens coax connector on the rear panel.
Compact PCI
The E1/T1 16 PCM card provides a slave 33MHz 32 bit Compact PCI compliant
bus interface (PCI v2.2). The bridge supports posted memory writes for best
PCI performance.
The card requires a 3.3v supply, and it provides 3.3V signalling with 5V
I/O tolerance on both the PCI and H.110 buses.
Version 2.0 of the card supports Hot Swap compliant with PICMG 2.1 R1.0,
tolerance of Vcc from early power, tolerance of asynchronous reset, tolerance
of pre-charge voltage, and Hot Swap Control/Status register.
Injector/Extractor system provides protection from electrostatic
discharge on board insertion. The board U-channel front panel with gasket
assures electromagnetic protection.
The protection level meets the requirements of the IEEE 1101.10 Standard.
The board meets the electrical and mechanical requirements of the
CompactPCI Specification PICMG 2.0, and the extensions concerning usage of
connector J5 for Computer Telephony applications, PICMG 2.5.
The main board is a 6U (233.35 mm by 160 mm) board size. The Rear Panel I/O
are also 6U size (233.35 mm by 80 mm). The card occupies one slot.
The board uses standard 2 mm Type AB CompactPCI connectors.
Software & Drivers
Drivers are available for many operating systems. Prisma Engineering can
also provide custom versions of them on the basis of specific needs.
